Data Center Fire Triggers Google Cloud Outage Across Parts of India

(MENAFN) According to reports, a fire at a third-party data center in India has disrupted Google Cloud services, leading to network issues across multiple major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.

Google Cloud stated that the incident required an emergency shutdown of networking equipment at the affected facility. This resulted in reduced network capacity and intermittent connectivity problems for users in several regions. The company’s service health dashboard indicated that traffic originating from Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, and surrounding areas experienced “elevated latency and possible packet loss.”

The disruption was linked to a fire at an external data center rather than a failure within Google’s own infrastructure. The incident led to the isolation of a local point of presence in Delhi, which in turn affected routing and performance for customers connecting to Google Cloud services across parts of India.

Local media reported that Google engineers worked to reroute traffic away from the impacted systems and implement mitigation measures to limit service disruption. However, the company noted that no immediate workaround was available for some affected users while recovery efforts continued.

Additional traffic management actions were deployed to stabilize network performance as engineers worked to restore full functionality to the damaged systems.
